The Elder Scrolls 6, announced absolutely eons ago to creator Todd Howard’s chagrin, isn’t releasing any time soon.

But a Variety interview with Xbox boss Matt Booty – who oversees all the publisher’s developers, including Bethesda Game Studios – has shed the smallest of lights on the highly anticipated RPG.

    He said:

“So I can tell you, having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen Elder Scrolls playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well. And we’ll make sure to announce it and really reveal it at the right time.â€

Booty explained that his company has to tread a delicate line between getting fans excited and also not showing titles too early. The Elder Scrolls 6, as Howard has said, was simply revealed far too early.

I suppose there is a question mark over whether this will even come to PlayStation at this point, presumably the PS6 by the time it’s ready. Microsoft has said it wants to try to tag on more console exclusives, depending on the health of its business.

I suppose the franchise does feel a bit too big and ubiquitous for the Redmond firm to follow that route, but heck, it’s footing the bill here, so who knows? Either way, it’ll be years before we know.
