Asics to Spin Off Onitsuka Tiger Into Standalone Subsidiary

Asics is transferring Onitsuka Tiger to OT Group, a wholly owned subsidiary, via a company split effective January 1. The move will allow quicker decision-making at Onitsuka Tiger, given the sneaker label is a key profit driver for Asics. There’s also reportedly been ongoing conflicts between the management of Asics America and Onitsuka Tiger. “By splitting off the company, we can manage various issues from headquarters in ​Japan, and we can start (in the U.S.) again,†Ryoji Shoda, CEO of the newly created OT Group, told Reuters. In collaboration with Axiom Space, Prada unveiled its new-look Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment that NASA astronauts will wear under their spacesuit (also Prada-designed) during lunar missions.
